IS THERE ANY LOGIC BEHIND TAROT READING?

Talia is despair for days. Nobody know how to help her and she even doesn’t let anyone help. Some weeks ago, she visited some psychic for a tarot reading and since then, she doesn’t eat and sleep well. Josh asked Talia what did she find out from that famous tarot reading but she didn’t want to tell her husband anything about that experience. One month later, Talia died in car accident. Did she knew it from tarot cards or it was an accident? Will we ever lock up the door of truth in this case? I don’t think so but Talia is not the only one who ended this way, not long after meeting destiny from the tarot cards. So, what are actually those cards and do they really have some kind of supernatural power? As always, I try to offer logical approach and to try to demystify things worth of our nightmares and soul concerns
Before I get into the science or pseudoscience of tarot cards, I would like to define them. The tarot cards could be understood as a deck of 78 cards, each with its own picture and symbolic tale behind. There are 22 Major Arcana tarot cards that talk about spiritual and karmic life while others 56 Minor Arcana Tarot cards cover the daily issues and people’s struggles. This system of cards has been developed in the 14th century as the way of entertainment and social games. As it is written, they have been born in northern Italy and the oldest set is known as Visconti-Sforca deck, made specially for the Duke of Milan’s Family in 1440. Back in that time, nobles people found fun in playing tarocchi and pretending to read signs from Fool to Death, copying the figures from local carnivals. Their destiny role has been involved at the beginning of 18th century, when Antoine Court de Gebelin wrote a mystical book about tarot cards and their link to the immortal wisdom o god Thoth. Their full popularity started in the USA, in 20th century, firstly through the horror movies and also among people for fortune questions.
The experts for tarot reading use to say that one first must establish a connection with tarot deck, to be able to communicate and find out the future in their language. There are 16 Minor Arcana tarot cards that show different personalities and the other 40 Minor Arcana tarot cards, divided into 4 Suits, with 10 cards each, bring up the daily obstacles and life situation that target majority of people.
When you talk to the people who are into tarot readings, you will hear opposite information. Some believe that these are dangerous codes of demonism while some give all trust to the tarot destiny and see this as a spiritual channel. In one of the studies from Insider, Gaye Weintraub, the owner of holistic wellness company Soul´ed Out expressed the following: “Tarot cards do not tell the future; rather, tarot is a tool for spiritual guidance and enables the person receiving the reading to connect to his or her inner wisdom. Tarot readings help a person understand what he or she needs to know about a particular situation. Decks are best used as a tool of inner wisdom and guidance, as readings give a person insight to past, current and future events based on the person’s current path at the time of the reading. The cards do not necessarily reveal what will happen, but instead, allow a person to gain an understanding of a situation and determine the best course of action based on what is known and what the cards show.”
This further means that understanding of tarot cards truth depends on your perspective and own philosophy. If you are more into supernatural and parapsychology, you will be one of those who see the reality in tarot language and you will try to reflect it in your life, giving the cards that superpower, your mental power of projection. On the other side, if you are logical and realistic person with both legs on the ground, you will find a way to the deeper psychology and its subconscious dimensions.
As far as I get into the tarot cards methodology, I must admit these are some kind of visualisation mechanisms. You project what you need or what you want to attract and unstable or easily manipulated people usually project their fears instead of hopes. When those people, already injected and infected with fears from the future and negative expectations. open tarot cards for answers on their deep questions, they give answers themselves through their phobias, dilemmas and despair. Like Talia. Lets assume that Talia has got a Death card and she really believed it will happen to her….she was so obsessed with the end that she projected and attracted her end, earlier as it should be. It doesn’t surprise that some philosopher always warned not to gaze into abyss because it could look back at you.
Personally, I find tarot cards interesting, mystical and funny but without real power of controlling your life unless you make it happen, though your subconscious actions and reactions. We see things as we are and tarot cards are able to tell the story not of our life but of our soul. Each of us sees different the images of tarot cards and each of us takes the message different, based on the previous experience, life problems and spiritual level. I love traveling. When I open tarot cards, I always see opportunities for being a globetrotter because it is my own visualisation process and in that case, tarot cards are nothing but visual board for my dreams and hopes. Everything is born within us, fears and hopes at the same time, all good and all bad energy too. It only depends on you, yes you, my friend, what will you let out, with or without cards and their secret language. There is no reason to be afraid from tarot cards, even if they tell you something bad. It is not your destiny but a way to do one introspection and to find the sources of your insecurity, reasons of your hidden agony and discomfort. The tarot cards will have only power if you let them have over you and your life. Be smart. Play, but nothing more.

Sarah’s informative and interesting article reminded me of the linguistic evolution of the noun ‘tarot’, which may have emerged from the 15th-century Florentine-Italian dialectal word ‘tarocchi’ (i.e. expressing foolishness and or playfulness).
Playing cards first entered Western Europe in the late-14th century: most likely, from Muslim Mamluk Egypt (1250-1517). The first records date to 1367 in Berne, Switzerland, and they appear to have spread very rapidly across the whole of Europe, as may be seen from the records, mainly of card games being banned by Church authorities.
The first documented tarot card packs appeared between 1440-50, in northern Italianate regions. In Florence, an individual deck was created, ‘Minchiate’ (a dialectal word meaning ‘nonsense’), to include astrological symbols: astrology was very popular during The Renaissance.
Due to the fact that the earliest produced tarot cards were hand-painted, their numbers and distribution were minor. After Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press (c. 1440), tarot cards began to be mass produced and distributed among gambling societies across Europe.
Always, the Inquisition officials struggled against progressions in The Renaissance, and they never succeeded in eradicating gambling… Some of the illiterate majority (i.e. peasants) saw an opportunity for enterprise and used the visual tarot cards as a form of clairvoyance and prediction; both of which were popular in The Renaissance.
So, Gypsies, etc., did not need to be able to read and write to become clairvoyants, etc. They began to focus on the astrological aspects of the tarot cards and solicited moneyed clientele (e.g. merchants’ families) who were drawn to novelty, etc., as their wealth increased.
In some areas outside of Renaissance protection, The Inquisition used tarot card reading as an excuse to eradicate opposition to Church rule, among many other pretexts.
This enhanced the growing associations of so-called ‘Satanism’ with tarot cards. As Sarah mentions, the horror film industry profited/profits from this…
