BRIDGES IN SPACE- TIME AND ISLAM

“The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years.”

-Qur’an 70:4

Yes. It is Qur’an, holy book of Muslims and it is talking about physical and astrophysical terms and phenomena which turns the limits of one religion into the never ending field of speculations, scientific debates and futuristic thoughts. How is it possible that one religious and sacred text, written almost fourteen centuries ago, offers something that is a big mystery to the scientists if is not already proven as a  fact? The believers will say it is up to Allah (dz.s.), the God who knows everything. The scientists will be impressed, if they are not ideologically biased, by the interesting level of science dilemmas expressed in the Noble Qur’an. It is not anymore about Islam and Muslims, it is about the questions and  answers that mankind is waiting for.

images (4).jpg

Have you ever heard for a wormhole?Let’s imagine the journey from our planet to another one, or the distanced star or even galaxy. In available metric measures, it is very hard to determine the time frame of the travel because the general theory of relativity comes up with the model of contracting the huge distances into the few meters.Albert Einstein called those platforms bridges in the space-time but nowadays, scientists call them wormholes. Some kind of portals which connects two distant regions in the universe, overcoming the physical interval, reducing the gap and escaping from the time vacuum. That is a pure astrophysical issue but what that has to do with the holy book of Qur’an? The Noble Qur’an has also place for wormholes which is one of the main elements to be considered as very interesting to the experts of religion and cosmologists.

download.jpg

First of all, I was fascinated with mathematical time construction in Qur’an. In verses 22:47, the time of Earth is compared with the time at Paradise or Hell :1 day vs. 1000 years, but the verses 70:4 says that the proportion between Earth’s time and wormholes is: 1 days vs. 50,000 years. This is very important because Allah (dz.s.) enabled to His angels the possibility for transport throughout the universe and the time gap. This special portal or wormhole is called  ‘Ma’arej’ (معارج) and it is used only for angels to get from one place to another one in  a short time.

images (1).jpg

The scientists know how those portal works in their theories but they are not sure how it would look like in a practice. There is one good explanation of what is our wormhole:“Do you remember how a frictionless roller coaster works? That is, you start high and slow then you go down and fast but when you come back up again to your previous height you return to your previous slow speed? Well, the wormhole is the most efficient roller coaster you can imagine. Energy is not required to move through the wormhole, that is, you can simply switch off your rockets. Gravity accelerates you and pulls you through and then expels you the other side. You will feel like being swept by waves at the beach; nothing more. On your way through, gravity causes your clock to run slower and your ruler to shrink. Distant observers see you accelerating to relativistic speeds; as a result, your energy (and mass) increase dramatically in their view; but when you get out the other side everything returns back to normal (your clock, ruler…)” Now, this is only a theoretical assumption that is far away from experimental confirmation.

There is the wormhole in Qur’an which we are interested in because the Book promises that anyone, not only angels, who get into the wormhole will experience the same time dilation (“one day in wormhole vs. 50,000 years on the Earth”)but the problem now is how to find those wormholes, where exactly they will bring us and how long the journey will take. The Muslims believe that Prophet Mohammed once used the wormhole to go to the  ‘Israa & Mi’raj’ and that is the reason why all of them think that wormhole is not only reserved for the angels.

images-2

The believers of Islam are sure that the wormholes are doors in the heaven and when someone uses this portal, the big interstellar lengths becoming the walking distances. This is also the sign to the non believers that wormholes can be opened to all because only God can contract the time and space problems and only those who do not believe can say it is an optical illusion. What physics says? Here is something very thrilling:“The Quran says that angels use these wormholes to reach any place in the universe. An observer outside gravitational fields sees those angels passing by him at 99.99999…% of the speed of light (relativistic speeds, very close to the local speed of light), that is at 299792.457999…km/s. But when those angels enter the gravitational field of a wormhole this observer still sees those angels entering the wormhole at 99.99999…% of the speed of light however that would no longer be at 299792.457999…km/s. This is because in the presence of gravity the speed of light becomes relative. If he sees the speed of light in a wormhole at 10 meters/sec, for example, then he would see those angels traveling at only 9.999999…meters/sec, flapping their wings in slow motion, reddish in color and very dim (and in turn they would see him in fast motion, bluish in color and very bright).”

wormhole

If you are not familiar with physics and astrophysics, the theory of wormholes and portals hidden in Qur’an will not keep you excited because there is a missing level of understanding the lines between ancient Prophet, without pure knowledge of cosmic science and modern and advanced technology of time and space research. What Qur’an further says? There is a slightly intriguing background of alien civilization that will possibly attack the Earth through the opened portals, wormholes. According to Islamic teaching, there is a life out of the Earth  and it is covered by word  “dabbatun” which should explain the attempts of science to search for living forms outside the Planet. The science want concrete sign of life and not only the metaphysical entity and that is exactly what Holy Qur’an promises it is on other planets that have life like ours.  Who are then those hostile aliens who can invade the Earth via wormholes, based on Qur’an warnings? The story about Yajuj and Majuj:“Allah Almighty clearly informed His Prophet (S.A.W.S) that Yajuj and Majuj will be from among the people of Hell and that their nature denies the truth and submission to it, as they will not respond to the caller till the Day of Judgment.” As we can understand, those two are something between people and aliens, but because of their resistance to submission, they are trapped on the another planet but they are looking for the ways to come to the Earth and bring chaos. One day, they will discover the portals and escape from the jail, coming to our world, carrying war and blood.

This could be an awesome legend but also a good base for further scientific research in the direction of time and space travels. It must be something in those ideas written and exposed thousands years ago, at least something worth of science curiosity. For me as a researcher, religion and science always oppose to each other but when it comes to the islamic Holy Book, I must admit it consists of valuables that could be mathematically proven and tested or to be used as theoretical support for advanced development of cosmic researches.

wormhole2

If there is any portal which could enable us the compressed time and space  options, that would definitely explain the hyperspace and the vacuums as well the all potentials of the future colonization of other planets (e.g. Red Planet). We all know that long cosmic journeys are very demanding for people and their medical preconditions but even to think about the wormholes and how they are making all easier, sounds like a perfect comfort of science fiction, offered by one religious book. The Qur’an. Now, it is only a big issue to detect those bridges in space-time and to test them in rational framework. The science feeds itself on the source of different ideas. Tunnels among Earth and other planets with other races. Sounds more than a thrilling to develop theories and possible experiments on.  The Noble Qur’an gives  the great task to the scientists because they must discover those gates before  Yajuj and Majuj open them and use for their invading plans.

  1. What a fascinating article, Sarah! I have to admit that, as a mathematician and a scientist, I am very intrigued by these findings!

In your article, you talk about how mass increases with increasing relativistic speeds, which I concur with based on the Theory of Relativity by Albert Einstein.

Here is the statement “Distant observers see you accelerating to relativistic speeds; as a result, your energy (and mass) increase dramatically in their view; but when you get out the other side everything returns back to normal (your clock, ruler…)” Now, this is only a theoretical assumption that is far away from experimental confirmation.”

As soon as I read your statement, my mind jumped to the mass equation, according to the Theory of Relativity, that I had learned as an Engineering Undergraduate student!

I’m introducing the equation, herein, to corroborate Sarah’s statement

    m=mo/(SQRT (1-(V/C)**2))

In the above equation, m is the mass at any given relativistic speed, mo is the mass at rest, i.e. no speed, V is the the object’s speed, and C is the speed of light.

As can be seen, as the relativistic speed, V, approaches the speed of light, 3×10**8 km/s, the term (V/C) becomes almost equal to 1. This would cause the denominator to be close to zero and the mass, m, would become extremely large at that speed, as we would be dividing by a very small number!

    Religions often speak metaphorically as
discussed in Sarah’s previous article “The Book of Qur’an: Between love and hatred”, January 30, 2017, where the original interpretation of the Qur’an based on Mecca was different from the one based on Medina. Therefore, we cannot definitively conclude that there is a corelation between the wording and the exact science or physics, as this may have been a metaphorical allusion. It is, nonetheless, fascinating to explore that field, and ascertain the veracity of a possible corelation.

Ultimately, this is scientifically very exciting news, and science should further explore this fascinating concept of wormholes.

Thank you so much, Sarah, for the presentation, herein, which renders this topic both easy to read and extremely interesting!

  2. I just wanted to correct a typo in my previous comment. “…..the speed of light, 3×10**8 m/s” , not “3×10**8 km/s.

    Thank you!

  3. Sarah’s article reminded me of the novel The Time Machine (1895), by the English author H.G. Wells: the theme of extra-dimensional movement has long captivated the human imagination (e.g. ancient Egyptian cults and their mathematical associations).

However, I am an Atheist and someone who basis his perceptions and investigations upon logic and common sense. Even if the referred to Islamic wormhole were factual, the issue remains that Homo sapiens will not be ameliorated. There have been planetary cataclysms, global epidemics and so on, since prehistoric times, and none of them have resulted in compelling the species to live life on Earth through logic and common sense, universally. A cosmic or earthbound battle between Angels & Demons, etc., would be the same. In fact, in The Old Testament the reference of the Fall of Satan (i.e. angel in the apparent Heaven) illustrates this.

What interests me about Sarah’s article is the protracted debate between Science and religion: this has been a battle for control over human minds for millennia. Many excellent ancient mathematicians were persecuted and or murdered by early-Christians (e.g. Hypathia). As far as I know, scientists have never deliberately sought to eradicate religion on Earth. Many scientists acknowledge that most humans cannot live without something beyond the knowledge of molecules (which we all are composed of). They desire and need ‘mystery’. This where religion steps in; providing nourishment for the human imagination. Most scientists and Atheists do not need this because we accept that there only molecules in the known Universe, in all probability. In other words, we do not require gods/religions to live perfectly sane and harmonious lives on Earth.

The Chronic Argonauts (1888) is a short story written by H. G. Wells. First published by the Royal College of Science, it predates Wells’s more famous time travelling novel, The Time Machine, by seven years. So, why did he write the novel? In the 1870s, he was a pedagogue with a sufficient income, but he wrote that he was constantly hungry; photographs of him at the time show a youth who is very thin and malnourished. Arguably, the concept of The Time Machine was born of his desire (i.e. as a scientific-orientated author) to seek out a better and more equal world. This is what Sarah’s article alludes to, also.

Sarah has an amazing mind (perhaps, she is from another planet, come to enlighten us, or a misplaced and wandering earthbound angel…), and I perceive her intellect as being exceptional in a not very exceptional contemporaneous realm of journalism. She is never afraid to journey into spheres that most journalists fear to tread (i.e. paranoia over possible loss of income, position and connections). So, thank you Sarah, and know that more and more people are perusing your publications…

Nonetheless, I beg your pardon, but I can not subscribe to your entire plan, all be it refreshing none the less. It would seem to everybody that your opinions are not totally validated and in fact you are generally your self not fully confident of the argument. In any case I did take pleasure in reading through it.
