There is no ugly cat because all cats are elegant and gracious, gifted by intelligent brain and self-confident nature. In the age of constant division on those who love dogs and those who love cats, it seems that cats have no chance against the man´s best friend. The dogs will be always on the top of our animal admiration, but cats will always keep their fame, as the most mysterious members of our pet family.

What is so special about cats? Simply all. They have been born to provoke our orders, to challenge our patience and to give us a bit of worshipping when we deserve it. The love of cat can’t be taken for granted because cat will chose who to love and how to love. The love of cat could be only deserved.

The Ragdoll cats have been described as the result of Alien influence while some have claimed that those dreamy cats are successful product of CIA department for genetic engineering. Nevertheless, their beauty is almost perfect like their home of origin, California:” In the family of cat breeds, Ragdolls are among the younger siblings. The cats were first developed by breeder Ann Baker in Riverside, California, in the 1960s. Baker’s foundation stock consisted of Josephine, a domestic longhair whose white coat concealed the genes for either a seal mitted or black tuxedo pattern, and various other longhaired cats of unknown ancestry that she owned or found in her neighborhood. Baker selected for cats with gentle, placid personalities, large size, and beautiful long coats characterized by a Himalayan pattern, the name for the ´points´ seen on Siamese-type cats. The result was a cat she called the Ragdoll, for its propensity to flop happily into the arms of anyone who picked it up. Later, Persians, Birmans and Burmese may also have contributed to the Ragdoll’s development.”

The real beauty of Ragdolls is not their physical glamour but friendly nature and almost-a-dog character. What does it mean? It means that having a Ragdoll cat brings so much joy because this cat is not a spectator but a participator in family activities. The Ragdolls love people and they will show their love each time they see their beloved members of the pride. In spite of many other cats that love their solitude and independence, those lovely furry dolls enjoy the company of people and they do not hesitate to express their loyalty and friendship.

Who would ever accuse them to be a product of Alien project on the Earth or even the CIA dream work? I guess that the breeder Ann Baker has made the first step in the direction of fantasy. She claimed that her cat Josephine has been hurt in one accident and that after it, all her followed kittens have been special and they formed the new breed, Ragdolls, passive and cute. It is obviously that Mrs Baker, known as a Persian cat breeder, did not want to share her own secrets and eventually encourage the new breeders to start the business with mystical Ragdolls. Her stories have inspired many other tales and gossip on the road so people start making the plots. Everyone has wanted to take a part in controversial discussion about the origin of those cats but not everyone understood them and who they really are.

The problem with Ann Baker was that she has made people mad with her aggressive ideas about Ragdoll cats and their genesis. It was no CIA experiments but one simply mating of many different breeds, resulting with one perfect offspring: dog-like cats. They have every single positive attribute of Burmese, Birman, Persian and Siamese cats but they are still so unique. One would say that Baker had a luck to get the right proportion of each breed´s great genetic material that has been imprinted in beautiful Ragdolls that have conquered the human hearts.

The Ragdolls are ideal for family with children and other pets since they are very friendly and socially active cats. They do not mind being involved in children playing or even playing with other pets. Their temperament is balanced and they show the high level of patience and loving aura. Those semi-longhaired cat with mesmerizing blue eyes are relative healthy cats that live between 12-15 years but they may be at risk of developing Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or Feline mucopolysaccharidosis. That is why is recommended to pick up the right breeder if it happens that you want to buy a kitten. They are also one of the biggest domestic cat breeds but their coat is not as demanding as it seems. It requests a bit of time and care but it is enough twice-a-week grooming. The Ragdolls are known to come as Pointed, Mitted, Bicolor and Van. The Pointed are usually those with dark face, ears, legs, feet and tail. Mitted Ragdolls are similar like Pointed but with the white mittens on the feet or with white star on the nose. Bicolor are the super combination between dark and white color. The Van Ragdolls have dark ears and tail. The right Ragdoll is always the one we fall in love with and that has nothing to do with the magical appearance of those cats.

For every future friend of the Ragdolls, I believe it is crucial to keep in mind that these cats must be kept indoor since they are too trusting to be let alone outside. They are very friendly oriented but their easygoing personality is at big risk in the mostly negative surrounding. Beside it, they need to be taken care of in an appropriate way and that includes dental and nutritional care.

In the USA, many Ragdolls rescue groups try to find a new home for the abused or abounded Ragdoll cats. If you have a big heart and you are striving for a new and honest pet friend, I suggest you to knock on the heaven´s door and to adopt one furry doll with the ocean eyes.
