CHINA’S COMMERCIAL TIGER BREEDING FARMS:

BEYOND  IMPOSSIBLE HORROR

One of the most beautiful  and largest living wild cats is definitely the tiger, recognizable by its specific orange coat with black stripes and its glamorous, almost mystic beauty. Known as a solitary animal, hidden in the deepest parts of the jungle, tiger is not always an easy object of scientific studies and conservationist strategies.

It is very tragic to know that there are more tigers in captivity than in nature and that their status of endangerment is changeable from region to region, depending on the governmental wildlife regulations implemented on the ground.

The  tiger’s tale is definitely one of those which will never let anyone  indifferent. Especially when it comes to the level when human beings are acting as beasts and natural given predators become victims. Some years ago, there were more than 100,000 wild tigers. Nowadays, there are about 3,200 remain worldwide.This is so negative statistic but behind this numbers, there is a serious effort on the international base for tiger’s protection and punishment of any kind of illegal wildlife trade.

The value of those wild cats is not only big for the ecosystem but also for the cruel poachers who are counting dollars through every killed cat. They are target because of their skins, bones and teeth the world is slowly awakening and realizing that there is no price for lost of this struggling species.

PR China was one of the leading developing countries linked to the issue of failed environmental policy as well as the encouragement of the illegal wildlife trade. In other words, all what can bring money have been welcomed in China, even the killing of those majestic creatures or, even worse, their total torture for the purpose of producing expensive Tiger bone wine and selling it to the rich, cruel “Chinese elite made over night”.

However, in 1993, China banned the consumption of tiger bone after the global pressure. But,  there are so many evidences that this ban is not implemented as it should be and that corruption enables the old custom and ugly head of illegal trade to survive. Like it is not enough, the legal ban on commercial breeding of these animals has never been issued which further means that the practice of elements for  illegal trade is silently approved.Chinese officials would advocate this through their  fake conservationism concern. It is allowed for farms to breed tigers for commercial purposes so the poachers wouldn’t hunt them in wildness and change the endangered number of tigers. According to some wild cats rescue organizations, there are more than 6,000 tigers in captivity across the China, in some of 200 registered farms. The vast majority of these precious animals are showing the signs of vital sickness as well as malnutrition and abuse. They are considered as a meat  for profit because the main goal of those breeders is to “prepare” tiger for industry:“Every single part of the tiger is considered profitable in China. Displaying tiger rugs and stuffed animals outfitted with real tiger skin is seen as a symbol of status in China and many use these ‘exotic’ decorations to accentuate their already lavish lifestyle. Slaughtering farmed tigers is considered a form of entertainment for those who are willing to pay the price. After these ‘canned’ hunts, customers feast on the meat.According to a report in the  Washington Post, the rise of commercial tiger breeding facilities is actually encouraging a rise in the demand for tiger bone amongst the wealthy in China. Tiger bone is believed to have various medicinal qualities. It can also be infused in wine which is considered a particular delicacy; many tiger farms now have wineries   right on their property. Once a tiger is dead, the animal can be harvested and the bone or skeleton of the tiger is soaked for a predetermined period of time before being bottled and sold.” 

The central point of “Chinese business”  is that Tiger bone wine which is obviously available to those wealthy people who are willing to pay  from £50 to   £200, depending on what class of wine is and how old is. Some town shops sell the bottles of wine in the tiger shape, so called rice wine in what bones from big cats(tigers or African lions) are soaked .

David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation’s Tiger Time campaign is describing the horror on one of those tiger breeding farms:“It’s believed farm owners starve tigers to death to enable them to claim they died from ‘natural causes’, getting round the few restrictions that are supposed to curb their activities. It is cruel and wicked.”

The brutality, animal cruelty and animal abuse is the alphabet of Chinese business. The land which has built itself from the ash of broken human rights and exploitation of everything which is able to bring money, doesn’t stop to shock the world with the abnormal habits wrapped into excuse of  “thousand years old  Chinese culture” . Now, we can imagine how it is easy to convince people that Tiger bone wine will make them healthier according to the old Chinese medicine.  Xiongsen’s tiger wine has its own page on Alibaba portal  and it is available for selling to the customers worldwide, suggesting them that after consuming the powerful nectar, they will recover their body and sexual appetite and potent.

The scientists can spend days in education of people and informing them that there is nothing in that wine which should be accepted and promoted but the cruel killing of one of the most beautiful animals on the Earth. The wildlife organizations in China as well as the volunteers and people with compassion for animals don’t give up to fight this barbaric profitable business, non-prohibited by goverment but rather tolerated.  The governmental officers are aware that where are no strict rules, there are flexible possibilities  for money to cover the injustice. The corruption is another big chapter and China must work on this problem if it has a real interest to be a part of ethic and civilized world which accept and protect endangered species and don’t boil them for some dollars more.

Now its your turn to show your big heart for our precious tigers. Imagine them, so beautiful and powerful, starved to death in some rusty cages for the purpose of producing the wine for empowered sexual energy of sadistic rich people. Be involved:
